Target Tanzania

Target Tanzania is the name for the overall plan to plant churches all throughout Tanzania. Ultimately, the goal is to establish congregations full of mature Christians that need no more support from the States or anywhere else. In roughly twenty years, these congregations should be well established and sending out their own brothers and sisters to spread the gospel.

Here is the basic plan broken into 5 equal parts:
1. First Five Years: Establish a large congregation in an urban area. (Hopefully 300+ members)
Also, begin spreading news of the gospel to neighboring villages through weekend trips and correspondence courses. The Main goal is to establish an urban congregation.
2. Next Five Years: Natives from the urban congregation will now be actively involved with ministry to the neighboring villages. The goal is to establish 50+ village congregations. The Urban Christians will spend lots of time visiting these churches.
3. Third Five Years: Establish a program to bring in village church leaders. Have monthly teaching seminars/ retreats etc. Goal is to create a community of urban and rural brothers and sisters to work together.
4. Last Four Years: By this time, a whole generation of believers have "grown up" in the urban congregation. They (and others) will be ready to do mission work themselves in foreign lands. The church should be self-supporting. The goal is to send out workers and to strengthen the village churches until they can do the same.

Ken Bolden developed this plan from his experience working in Kenya for 20 years. His dream is to implement this program in several key places throughout Tanzania.
